NY Fashion Week – Designer SS09 Shows

If you are a lucky Fashionista then you get the front row treatment at all of the designer shows during Fashion Week. Well, the Tres Chic Styling team loves you so much that we are going to do our best to give you the same treatment! Check out the upcoming trends for Summer and Spring 09…

Tracy Reese SS09 – Tracy Reese is one of the most successful African-American designers. After working with Perry Ellis and The Limited, Reese started her own line in 1996. Her inspiration for the season is an ethereal progression of nature through the seasons with delicate, yet sophisticated pieces that emanate modern romance.

Miss Sixty SS09 - No one does Hippy Chic better than Miss Sixty! Creative Director Wichy Hasaan chose to travel through time with this season’s collection. The nostalgic feel and hippy roots of these contemporary pieces were unmistakeable with psychadelic prints and lots of denim.

Diane von Furstenburg SS09 - Diane described her collection as “an homage to Diana Vreeland, who taught us we could be goddesses and rock stars.” Prints were plentiful as always and gold sequins sparkled. She also added a little fun with silk pants and head pieces.

Rock and Republic SS09 - The collection showcased a plethera of uber short bandage dresses with a variation of silhouettes (strapless, short sleeve, one shoulder, ruffles), painted on “skinny bitch” jeans (fab name by the way!), corset tops and tailored blazers.

Nicole Miller SS09 -Nicole Miller focused on her love of prints for her collection. It was very apparent that her recent trip to Haiti was her overall inspiration. With brightly plumed exotica of voodoo, menswear-inflected pieces, very colorful, deep-toned rainbow stripes, and mismatched grays with pin-stripe it was hard to miss her point.

So, with all of the “hoopla” over Ciara’s nude Vibe magazine cover and all of the speculation as to why she did it, Ciara has posted a vlog to explain. It pretty much sounds like she did it for buzz for her album but she tries to make it sound like much more. Thoughts?

So we finally got to see just how Fashion Rocks and I must say it really rocked! The fashion from each music genre and era were a clever display of how much style has evolved over the years. The performances were also a chic nod to some of the greatest music legends. From Rihanna opening with Madonna’s Vogue, to Justin and Beyonce paying homage to Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, to Chris Brown’s awesome tribute to Sam Cooke these stars really showed us just how much Fashion can Rock!
